This chapter provides a methodological path that can be followed in order to find out more about attitudes towards translated literature. It is suggested that by focusing on the publishing houses’ localising practices – especially the selection of titles and the packaging of books – the dynamics that are underlying transnational circulation come to the surface. By describing some useful analytical models and tools, this chapter shows in a tangible way how localising practices can be disclosed. Although the method is applied on a concrete situation in the semi-periphery of world literature – Italian literature in Sweden – it can easily be adapted for exploring a variety of transnational and transcultural relations.
